Unlike mammals and birds, the effect of shrub encroachment on ant assemblages is poorly known. My study aims to determine the impacts of shrub encroachment on the structure of ant assemblages in semiarid eastern Australia. I am particularly interested in whether shrub encroachment directly or indirectly effects ant richness, diversity and community structures.
